Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to put new tariffs on the country on hold for 30 days after a phone call with him. "The proposed tariffs will be put on hold for at least 30 days while we work together," Trudeau said in a post on X.

Trudeau said Canada is committed to taking more actions to secure its border with the United States in addition to previously announced measures.

"Canada makes a new commitment to appoint a Fentanyl Controller, we will designate drug cartels as terrorists, ensure 24/7 border monitoring, and activate the Canada-U.S. Joint Task Force to target organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering. I also signed a new intelligence directive on organized crime and fentanyl, which we will provide $200 million in support of," Trudeau announced in the post.

The White House has not yet commented on the call or Trudeau's post.
