The United States Postal Service (USPS) said it will temporarily stop accepting international inbound packages from China and Hong Kong Post until further notice. The Postal Service said letters and postal mail from China and Hong Kong will not be affected.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The move comes after U.S. President Donald Trump scrapped a "floor" rule that exempted small packages worth less than $800 from tariffs, which was used by e-commerce companies with ties to China as part of an order to impose 10% tariffs on goods from China and Hong Kong issued just after midnight Washington time.
