Recently, Chinese director John Woo was interviewed in the United States to promote his new film "Night" and said that he does not watch superhero movies, but chooses "real" movies shot by Martin Scorsese and others, but such movies are rare now.

"I've never been a fan of movies with big special effects, or anything based on comics. I prefer Martin Scorsese movies, that type of movie, can't wait to see Killers of the Flower Moon. I love old-school movies, real movies, and there aren't a lot of them these days."

John Woo said that his original work "Blood on the Street" was a tribute to Martin Scorsese's "Mean Streets" and was deeply influenced by that work.

"The Last Night" is John Woo's second directorial film after "The Hunt" in 2017. It is also the first time he has made a Hollywood movie after "The Memory Crack" in 2003. John Woo said: "When I got the script for "The Last Night," I was very excited. There is no dialogue in the entire movie, and I can use my talent to tell a story intuitively."

Talking about returning to Hollywood, he said: "I was always looking for a good story, and it just happened to be a Hollywood movie. I never felt like I was back in Hollywood. For me, I never left Hollywood. I have made several movies in China over the past twenty years, and returning to Hollywood is like coming home."

As for John Woo's next project, he hopes to continue filming in Hollywood: "The kind of movies I want to make are still hard to find funding for, like musicals or westerns, which are not as popular anymore. Maybe my next movie will be a western."
