There are signs that a new MacBook Air equipped with an M4 chip will be released in the near future. An account on X today shared the identifiers the MacBook Air will use, which correspond to the M4 chip.
According to sources, both the 13-inch MacBook Air and the 15-inch MacBook Air will be equipped with Apple's "T8132" chip, also known as M4 SoC.
Apple inadvertently confirmed the upcoming M4 MacBook Air models in December, when the macOS Sequoia 15.2 version included files for the unreleased "Mac 16, 12" and "Mac 16, 13" models. The documents reference "MacBook Air (13-inch, M4, 2025)" and "MacBook Air (15-inch, M4, 2025)."
Since then, we've been waiting for the new MacBook Air to arrive. There's no word yet on when they'll be available, but as Bloomberg's Mark Gurman noted over the weekend, existing inventory of M3 MacBook Air models is dwindling, suggesting they're imminent.
Apple is expected to launch iPhone SE 4 and new Powerbeats Pro 2 as soon as tomorrow, while MacBook Air may be launched sometime in the following weeks.
