According to GiantBomb reporter Jeff Grubb, SIE is currently discussing internally whether this summer's PlayStation conference will be held as an annual large-scale showcase or a smaller State of Play live broadcast event. The latter usually focuses more on third-party games and smaller announcements.
Speaking about Sony's marketing plans for the rest of the year, Grubb said: "They can still have some interesting launches and start raising expectations for 2026.

PlayStation's last "showcase" event was in 2023, when they announced a number of PS5 and PSVR2 games, including "Metal Gear Solid 3: Remastered", as well as detailed displays of games such as "Marvel's Spider-Man 2" and "Dragon's Dogma 2".
