According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is "stepping up" to develop a new Studio Display. In his PowerOn newsletter today, Gurman said the new Studio Display "should be coming in 2026" alongside Macs with M5 chips.

According to Gurman, the new Studio display will have a similar design to the current model, including a 27-inch screen size. The new display is codenamed J427 within Apple.

Gurman did not reveal any new features or changes planned for the next generation of StudioDisplay. However, display industry analyst Ross Young said last week that Apple is developing a new 27-inch display that may be launched by the end of 2025 or early 2026. Young believes that this display may be a new StudioDisplay display using miniLED backlight technology.

Compared with the current Studio display using LED, mini LED technology will bring advantages such as higher brightness and contrast.

Apple released StudioDisplay in March 2022, along with MacStudio. It has a 5K resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, 600 nits of brightness, camera and speakers, a Thunderbolt 3 port, and three USB-C ports. Prices in the United States start at $1,599.
