According to bloggers, yesterday, Hong Kong, China held a New Year vehicle registration number auction at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. According to the auction registration number list, there is only one single-letter "S" number in this auction, and the rest are pure numbers or alphanumeric combination numbers.

After the auction starts,The base price of the "S" license plate was only HK$5,000, and the asking price immediately soared to HK$8 million. In the end, it only took 5 minutes for the number to be sold for HK$14.2 million.

Netizens joked, "I bought the letter S for 14.2 million yuan, which perfectly demonstrates that if you have money, you can do whatever you want."

It is understood thatThe registration number of Hong Kong civilian vehicles is mostly two English letters followed by a set of 1 to 4 digits. The front of the vehicle uses black characters on a white background, while the rear of the vehicle uses black characters on a yellow background.

However, in 2005, Hong Kong launched the "Customized Vehicle Registration Mark Scheme", allowing citizens to choose a license plate with up to 8 digits.

Members of the public can customize an 8-digit registration number that includes English letters, numbers and spaces. Once accepted by the Hong Kong Transport Department, the number will be auctioned to the highest bidder.

The minimum bidding price starts at HK$5,000, and the proceeds from the auction of the vehicle registration number of your choice will be used for poverty alleviation purposes.
