According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple will start selling a new MacBook Air powered by the latest M4 chip "at the latest" in March, which is consistent with the time frame of last year's launch of the M3 MacBook Air. The last time Apple updated the MacBook Air product line was in March 2024.
Gurman's remarks, which appear in his latest PowerOn newsletter, suggest the reporter has no further information on when the new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air will be released. Six days ago, Gurman claimed that the models would launch "within weeks."
Apple has been thought to be close to launching the product for some time. In fact, the original rumor was that it was planned to be released as Apple's first hardware product of the year. However, it may now be iPhone SE4, which is expected to be released on Wednesday.
Back in December, Apple inadvertently confirmed the release of the upcoming M4 MacBook Air machines when the macOS Sequoia 15.2 software update included files for unreleased "Mac 16,12" and "Mac 16,13" machines. The documents mention "MacBook Air (13-inch, M4, 2025)" and "MacBook Air (15-inch, M4, 2025)."
Since then, we've been waiting for the new MacBook Air to arrive. As Gurman noted last week, existing inventory of M3 MacBook Air models is dwindling, suggesting new models are on the way.
