The National Labor Relations Board claims that Apple violated labor laws by refusing to provide unionized workers with the same benefits as other employees. This is another new accusation after the committee ruled in June 2023 that Apple's anti-union behavior at the World Trade Center store was illegal. The new accusations specifically involve a Towson, Maryland, store where unionized workers said Apple was "against us at every turn."

According to Bloomberg, a regional director of the National Labor Relations Board filed a complaint on November 21, 2023. The complaint states that Apple announced a series of new benefits for Towson store employees in October 2022, but then refused to provide this set of benefits to union employees.

After being accused of being excluded, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board. IAMAW accuses Apple of using new benefits to prevent employees from joining unions.

Apple declined to comment.

The Towson, Maryland, store is the first Apple store to officially recognize its union status. In January 2023, IAM began negotiations with the company over pay and conditions.
