According to reports, at the ISSCC2025 conference, Samsung announced that it would increase the rate of LPDDR5X from the current 10.7Gbps to 12.7Gbps, once again refreshing the performance record of mobile memory. This breakthrough progress is due to two proprietary circuit-level technologies: "Four-Phase Self-Calibration Loop" and "AC Coupled Transceiver Equalization Technology", providing more powerful memory support for next-generation mobile devices.

LPDDR5X is an optional extension standard for LPDDR5 released by the JEDEC Solid-State Storage Association in 2021, focusing on improving performance, reducing power consumption and enhancing flexibility. It is designed to meet the higher demand for memory performance in application scenarios such as 5G communications, automotive high-resolution AR/VR, and AI edge computing.

The LPDDR5-Ultra-ProDRAM chip launched by Samsung this time,An ultra-high transmission rate of 12700MT/s can be achieved at a voltage of 1.05 volts, and it can operate stably at 10700MT/s even at a low voltage of 0.9 volts.

This is due to the introduction of two key technologies:

Four-phase self-calibration loop: ensures that the four internal clock phases (0°, 90°, 180° and 270°) in the high-speed memory interface remain correctly aligned, effectively solving the problems of signal attenuation and inter-symbol interference in high-speed data transmission.

AC coupled transceiver equalization technology: enhances the clock signal, balances the receiver, and pre-emphasizes the transmitter to further improve signal integrity.

The launch of Samsung's LPDDR5-Ultra-ProDRAM chip marks the entry of mobile memory technology into a new era. Its ultra-high transmission rate and excellent energy efficiency will bring a smoother user experience, more powerful AI computing power, and longer battery life to the next generation of mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
