According to news released by 9to5mac, Apple has adjusted the keyword search record function of Safari browser in the iOS 18.4 beta version. After this adjustment, when the user clicks on the address bar, the most recent keyword search records will be displayed by default.
Originally, Safari would not display recent search records in regular mode or incognito mode. Users needed to re-enter keywords and then call the search engine to search.
After adjusting to display recent search records by default, users can see recent keyword search records, and can also quickly click on these keywords to perform searches again. If users want to check previous search content, they do not need to manually open the browser's history page.
However, there are advantages and disadvantages: when you search in front of friends or colleagues, these historical search records may be seen by others, and the previous version can provide better privacy protection.
And after testing, 9to5mac did not find a way to close these search word records. You can only click on the address bar to manually clear the keyword search records one by one. For users who often use search, manual clearing is a very troublesome thing.
Apple may provide the option to turn off this feature in the future. Considering potential privacy issues, improvements are expected to be made in subsequent iOS 18.4 beta versions.
