According to "Business Insider", although American technology giants are investing heavily in artificial intelligence (AI) in the hope that it will change the workplace, a latest survey shows that most American office workers have not yet used AI at work. A survey released by the Pew Research Center on Tuesday showed that only about 16% of American office workers said they would use AI to complete at least part of their work. About 81% of American office workers are considered “non-AI users.”

Among these “non-AI users,” 63% said they rarely or never use AI at work, and 17% said they had never heard of AI being used in the workplace.

81% of respondents are non-AI users

The survey was conducted last October and included 5,273 working adults in the United States. The results suggest that despite the tech industry's hype around AI tools like ChatGPT, Copilot and Gemini, tech giants still have some convincing to do to ensure their massive investments pay off.

The survey shows that 52% of respondents are more worried than hopeful about the long-term impact of AI. 32% believe that AI will result in fewer long-term employment opportunities for them. Chatbots are seen as helping to speed up work rather than improve the quality of work.
