Samsung Display announced today that it will display its next-generation smartphone OLED panel at MWC 2025, which opens on March 3, and can achieve brightness as high as 5,000 nits in an outdoor environment. The panel can deliver over 3,000 nits of brightness even in everyday use situations such as watching movies.
The panel is developed based on Samsung Display's world's first commercial "polarizer-free display" technology, namely "OCF (on-cell film)" technology.
And under the same power consumption, this panel is about 1.5 times brighter than the recently released flagship smartphone OLED panel.
Samsung Display stated that OCF technology not only improves outdoor visibility, but also plays a key role in reducing power consumption and innovative design. Following folding screen mobile phones, this technology has also been extended to devices such as straight smartphones and rollable laptops, and is known as a valuable display technology.
