Earlier reports claimed that Samsung had set the launch date of the Galaxy S25 Edge in April, but the latest report not only revealed when the Korean giant will release its new flagship, but also provided details on when the device will officially go on sale in May. Unfortunately, since the company is targeting low-volume production, sufficient supply may not be available, at least during the initial launch phase.
The initial production of the Galaxy S25 Edge represents only 0.1% of Samsung's monthly production of its flagship series of smartphones; the company may want to test the market reaction before increasing production.
Some key details published by tipster @Jukanlosreve on Sedaily show that the Galaxy S25 Edge will be released on April 16, and this stylish flagship is expected to be available in May. As you might have guessed, the report doesn't reveal pricing information, but mentions that the phone will be more affordable than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but more expensive than the base Galaxy S25.
According to reports, the Galaxy S25 Edge will be available in three colors: light blue, black and silver, but Samsung’s initial production target is very low, only 40,000 units. For a company that plans to increase total shipments of its Galaxy S25 series to 37 million units in 2025, Galaxy S25 Edge shipments account for just over 0.1% of total shipments. Samsung may want to keep a close eye on the market's response to the product, and if demand picks up, the company will directly ask its suppliers to increase production accordingly.
A brief hands-on video uploaded to YouTube shows that the Galaxy S25 Edge is half as thick as the Galaxy Z Fold 6. But to get those dimensions, Samsung had to compromise on battery capacity and reduce the rear cameras from three to two.
Leaked benchmark data shows that despite the obvious slimming down, Samsung will still equip the Galaxy S25 Edge with a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and 12GB of RAM, without much compromise on basic hardware performance.
