According to news on March 1, the well-known transgender actress Hunter Shaver revealed in a new video that in the new passport she recently obtained, the gender column was marked from female to male. Hunter Shaver said that his birth certificate was marked as male, but since he was a teenager, the gender marked on all documents, including driver's licenses and passports, has been female.
A new executive order in January this year mentioned that the United States only recognizes two genders: male and female assigned at birth. Hunter Shaffer said that he initially doubted whether this policy would be implemented. But after applying for a new passport, I discovered that my gender had been changed to male: "I had applied for it once before, and the process this time was no different. I filled in all the information, including 'Gender: Female,' but when I got the passport, I opened it and saw that the gender label had been changed to male."
Hunter Schaffer believes this is because his birth certificate did not change the male gender, and now he is required to refer to his birth certificate when applying for a passport. She said this was the first time something similar had happened to her in the 10 years since her gender was changed to female: "I guess I'm just a little scared about the way this (new policy) is being implemented gradually..."
However, Hunter Schafer declared, "Trans people are beautiful, we will never stop 'being', I will never give up being transgender, and a letter in my passport won't change that."
