Mount Fuji is located in the south-central part of Honshu Island, Japan, across Shizuoka and Yamanashi Prefectures in Japan, about 80 kilometers away from Beijing, with an altitude of 3,776 meters, covering an area of about 1,200 square kilometers, and a volume of about 500 cubic kilometers. It was included in the World Cultural Heritage List on June 22, 2013, becoming Japan's 17th World Heritage.
Mount Fuji is the highest peak in Japan and one of the largest active volcanoes in the world. The crater at the top of the mountain is about 500 meters in diameter and 250 meters deep.
The snow on the top of Mount Fuji is a major feature and charm of Mount Fuji. It is most obvious from October to May of the following year and displays different colors.
However, in recent years, the snow cover on Mount Fuji has decreased significantly and sometimes even disappears completely.
On November 5, 6, and 7, 2023, the highest temperature at the top of Mount Fuji exceeded 0°C, causing all the snow to melt.
This is the seventh time the snow on Mount Fuji has melted since records began in 1932.
At the same time, volcanic activity on Mount Fuji is gradually increasing, causing temperatures to rise further and snow melting may become more frequent.
