Today, the 2023 Asian General Aviation Exhibition opened. A domestic electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) - "Air Taxi" was on display, attracting the attention of exhibitors. It is reported that this eVTOL aircraft comes from Fengfei Aviation and is modeled as "Shengshi Dragon". It is a large-scale eVTOL manned aircraft independently developed by Fengfei. According to reports,Shengshilong has a maximum take-off weight of 2 tons, is purely electric powered, has a 5-seater design, can fly autonomously, and can reach speeds exceeding 200 kilometers per hour.
In February 2023, Fengfei Shengshilong had a single voyage of 250.3 kilometers, setting a global range record for 2-ton eVTOLs.
In addition, eVTOL aircraft "air taxis" do not require traditional airports with runways. Compared with helicopters, they are quieter, more environmentally friendly, safer, more reliable, and less expensive.
It is considered an important solution for future urban air transportation and will be widely used in intra-city air travel and inter-city travel scenarios in metropolitan areas, significantly saving travel time.
