According to technology blog The Verge, videos on YouTube show that Waymo, Google’s self-driving sister company, appears to be testing self-driving taxis made by Krypton on the road, and the disguise has been removed. In fact, Waymo has been testing this new model for several months, but it has always been under disguise. However, a video captured by the YouTube channel ILoveVehicles shows that the pretense seems to have been removed.

Jikrypton produces self-driving taxis for Waymo

This model should be the Extreme Krypton RT. At the CES 2025 exhibition in January this year, the world's first mass-produced native self-driving car, Jikrypton RT, jointly developed by Waymo and Jikrypton, was officially unveiled and is expected to begin large-scale delivery within this year.

According to previous reports, the car's main lidar system is installed in a circular module on the roof, using the latest sensor suite. There are multiple smaller sensors around the body, installed at the front corners, rear and front center. Waymo has also added a light sign outside the vehicle to help passengers more easily identify their vehicle and make it easier to ride.
