According to The Information, Google co-founder Larry Page is creating a new company called Dynaatomics that is dedicated to applying artificial intelligence to product manufacturing.
Page is working with a small team of engineers to develop artificial intelligence technology that can create "highly optimized" designs for objects that can then be manufactured by factories. Chris Anderson, chief technology officer of Kittyhawk, an electric aircraft startup backed by Page, is leading the secret effort.
Page is not the only entrepreneur exploring how to use artificial intelligence to improve manufacturing processes (although he may be one of the richest). OrbitalMaterials is creating an artificial intelligence platform for discovering materials ranging from batteries to carbon dioxide capture cells. PhysicsX provides tools for engineers working in project areas such as automotive, aerospace and materials science to run simulations. In other areas, Instrumental is leveraging vision-driven artificial intelligence to detect factory anomalies.
