Last year, Microsoft donated the Mono project to Wine, which is managed by WineHQ. FrameworkMono6.14 was released today. It is the first important version of the Mono project in five years and the first important version under the WineHQ organization.

Framework Mono 6.14 was released today, the latest version of the Mono project currently developed and maintained by Wine developers and the wider open source community. Today’s release announcement states:

"This is the first release of FrameworkMono from its new home, WineHQ. It contains the results of the past 5 years of work that were never included in a stable release because no stable branches were created during this period. Highlights include native support for macOS ARM64, and numerous improvements to Windows Forms for X11."

As for the name "FrameworkMono" instead of just Mono, the release announcement explains:

"FrameworkMono is a project that was previously hosted at https://github.com/mono/mono, when it was simply called Mono. I made this change to distinguish it from "monovm" and "WineMono", which are different projects. FrameworkMono is a cross-platform runtime compatible with .NET Framework."
