According to the Financial Times,Elon Musk has requested to meet Italian President Mattarella to save Starlink deal. At present, Italy is not interested in the possible agreement with Starlink.US$1.5 billion (approximately 10.9 billion yuan)Doubts are growing over the deal.
As geopolitical turmoil intensifies in the United States and Europe, Italy's deal with Starlink has already faced domestic opposition. User X posted last Saturday:Italian President Sergio Mattarella tried to sabotage Italy's deal with Starlink because Musk was working with Trump.In response, Musk said on X, "It would be an honor to speak with President Mattarella."
Previously, the government led by Italian Prime Minister Meloni has been negotiating with Starlink on a possible five-year agreement. The agreement aims to provide diplomats, military personnel and other Italian public officials abroad withProviding secure military communications services.
Meloni has developed a close personal relationship with Musk. She had said in early January that talks were still at a "preliminary stage" but defended the need for a potential deal, saying Italy "No other viable public option” to meet Italy’s secure communications needs.
