According to Chen Liwu in a memo to Intel employees, he is confident that he can turn around the business situation. The following is the full text:

To the team:

I'm honored to be your next CEO.

Intel is a company I've always admired. Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by the power of science, technology, and engineering, and Intel's innovations have been at the core of many world-changing breakthroughs.

Of course, we all know that past achievement does not predict future success, especially in an industry as dynamic as ours. The pace of change is accelerating and competition is fierce. You know this better than anyone, and I know it's been a tough few years for you and your team.

One thing you will learn is that I am never intimidated by a challenge. Throughout my career, they have inspired me to solve difficult problems. As I prepared to join, I believed we had a truly unique opportunity to reinvent the company during one of the most critical moments in its history.

That's not to say it's easy. No. But I joined because I believed we had what it took to win. Intel plays a vital role in the U.S. and global technology ecosystem. I believe that if we work together we can turn our situation around.

Under my leadership, Intel will become an engineering-focused company. We will build trust by pushing ourselves to develop the best products, listening carefully to our customers, and being accountable for the promises we make.

I believe in a simple philosophy: stay humble. Work hard. Delight our customers. When you anchor yourself in these three core beliefs, good things will happen. This has been true in every job I've had, and I will approach my future work as your CEO this way.

We cannot take anything for granted and we will be conducting deep dives regularly to assess our progress. In areas where we have momentum, we need to redouble our efforts and expand our advantages. In areas where we lag behind our competitors, we need to take appropriate risks, disrupt and leapfrog. In areas where our progress is slower than expected, we need to find new ways to pick up the pace.

Most importantly, we need to be united. One of the most lasting lessons I learned in college was to be an athlete, not a student. I learned to trust and trust my teammates because I knew that was the surest path to victory—and there was nothing I hated more than losing. This is the mindset we all need to have as we build a winning culture at Intel.

Now more than ever, our customers are counting on us to work together to serve them. Most importantly, this is and will continue to be our top priority. As your CEO, I will empower leaders to take ownership and take action to drive our business forward.

We have an opportunity to do something special together. In many ways, we are the founders of the "new Intel." We will learn from past mistakes, use setbacks to strengthen our resolve, and choose action over distraction to reach our full potential.

Together, we will restore Intel's position as a world-class products company, enable us to become a world-class foundry, and delight our customers like never before. This is what our moment of reinventing Intel's future demands of us.

We also have a responsibility to serve our shareholders - I am equally focused on this and expect this will be the result of our renewed focus on our customers.

I am grateful for the trust the board has placed in me to lead this great company forward. I'm proud to join the team and excited about our collaboration. Looking forward to speaking with you at our company-wide meeting.

the best,

Chen Liwu
