According to news released by Windows Central, Microsoft's Surface Pro 11 sold in some European markets no longer comes with a charger. Microsoft said this is in line with the European Union's efforts to reduce electronic waste. Surface Pro 11 will be launched in 2024 and comes with a power adapter in all markets around the world. The EU's universal charger directive has taken effect in January 2025, but it does not include laptops yet. Microsoft's Surface Pro 11 is a tablet rather than a laptop.

Surface Laptop 7 will continue to come with a charger for the time being. This device is a complete laptop, unlike Surface Pro 11 which is a tablet and can be transformed into a laptop with an external keyboard protective cover.

Without a charger, Microsoft provides consumers with discounted chargers. For example, users purchase a Surface Connect adapter for 80 pounds or 90 euros, which is almost half price.

It is worth noting that Surface Pro 11 has two different charging methods. Microsoft has its own charging method, which is SurfaceConnect magnetic charging, but the device also supports charging through the Thunderbolt4/USB-C interface.

Among them, Microsoft's own magnetic charger can provide 65W for fast charging, and the USB-C interface can provide 60W charging. Of course, it depends on the charger used by the user, and the minimum must provide 15W charging power.
