On March 25, according to automotive media carscoops, Xiaomi is actively recruiting talents from other brands. At least five executives from BMW have joined the Xiaomi camp. They will devote themselves to Xiaomi’s research and development center in Europe. The specific location of the center has not yet been disclosed.

A search on the LinkedIn platform revealed that Xiaomi successfully hired Rudolf Dietrich, who had worked at BMW for 15 years, as the head of its European R&D center last year. Dietrich has a rich resume. In addition to his deep experience at German high-end car manufacturer BMW, he has also worked for Williams and Sauber Formula One teams. In addition, Dusan Salak also joined Xiaomi's European business after working for BMW and Rolls-Royce for several years.

Xiaomi also shows strong confidence in sales targets. Xiaomi plans to sell 350,000 electric vehicles in China this year. If this goal is achieved, it will surpass the combined electric vehicle sales of Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche in 2024. It is worth noting that Xiaomi only launched its first electric SU7 sedan at this time last year. Now with the launch of the super sports car SU7 Ultra, the market performance is getting stronger.

Not only that, 2025 is crucial for Xiaomi. Its first electric SUV, YU7, is about to be put into production and delivered to the market. From the perspective of product positioning, YU7 directly targets Tesla Model Y. The car follows the design features of the Xiaomi car family. The vehicle is 4999 mm long, 1996 mm wide, 1600 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 3000 mm. It is equipped with a dual-motor system and uses lithium iron phosphate batteries. The peak power of the drive motor is 130kW/235kW. The combined peak power can reach 691 horsepower, and the top speed is 240 km/h. Taking into account the strong global demand for high-performance SUVs, YU7 sales are expected to far exceed that of the SU7 sedan.
