Bloomberg's Mark Gurman shared some bad news for iPhone mini fans today. In today’s live Q&A session, Gurman said that Apple currently has no plans to reintroduce smaller iPhone models.

Apple stopped producing the iPhone 13 mini in September 2023 and has not launched a mini model since then. Apple is not expected to release the iPhone 17 mini this year. Considering Apple’s multi-year planning and development cycle for future iPhone models, Gurman’s revelation may also rule out the possibility of releasing the iPhone 18 mini next year.

Since discontinuing the third-generation iPhone SE last month, Apple no longer offers any new iPhone models with screen sizes smaller than 6 inches. All iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models currently sold by Apple have display sizes between 6.1 inches and 6.9 inches, while the display sizes of iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini are 5.4 inches. The display size of the last-generation iPhone SE was 4.7 inches, but the bezels were thicker, which increased the overall size of the device.

While there is a group of consumers who want Apple to reintroduce the iPhone mini, market research firms say sales of the smaller model have never been good enough, so it is not surprising that Apple has not reconsidered the decision.
