Like most TikTok trends, these posts generally follow a similar format. In the video, as the owner backs his Tesla out of a garage or driveway, lyrics from "Look What a Good Thing You Made Me Do" play in the background: "I'm sorry, the Taylor of the past can't answer the phone now. Why? Oh, because she's dead."
Then, the scene switches and the owner drives a new car into the garage, but it's no longer a Tesla, and the background music is "Look at the good things you made me do."
American electric car brand Rivian appears to be a popular choice for some Tesla owners to swap their cars. There are several videos showing Tesla owners choosing Rivian models, such as the Rivian R1S, which starts at about $75,900. Other videos show Tesla owners switching to other electric vehicle brands, such as the Porsche Macan Electric or Lexus.
"Tesla sales managers seem to be crestfallen," one user wrote in the caption of the video, which described the reaction of Tesla sales staff when they heard the reason why the owner decided to sell the vehicle and canceled the Model Y order. In this video, the car owner’s license plate also contains language that insults Musk.
