Recently, CrystalDewWorld released its free benchmarking tool CrystalMarkRetro2.0of updates. After a year of development, this tool can finally cover retro hardware older than WindowsXP, and can now support Windows95, Windows98 and WindowsMe systems.

CrystalMarkRetro is a complete benchmark suite,Able to measure CPU, storage, 2D graphics and 3D graphics (OpenGL) performance, version 1.0 will be released in March 2024, and version 2.0 already supports all versions from Windows 95 to Windows 11.

The software is also compatible with VMware, which means users can run Windows 95 virtually on modern hardware and conduct performance tests.

For example, users can run Windows 95 on an AMD Threadripper PRO5995X64 core CPU and conduct benchmark testing through CrystalMarkRetro2.0.

The developers of CrystalMarkRetro said that supporting Windows95/NT4.0 is a necessary condition for becoming a true retro benchmarking tool.

In order to achieve this goal, developers have overcome many technical difficulties, including eliminating dependence on IE4, supporting i386 architecture, and supporting Windows NT3.51.
