Previously, Microsoft deleted the clock seconds in Windows 11, which caused many netizens to complain. The reason given by Microsoft was that constantly changing seconds consumes more system resources, so deleting the displayed seconds can actually improve system performance.

However, many users complained about this and wanted to restore seconds, so Microsoft added a switch in Windows 11 in subsequent updates. By default, seconds are not displayed, but users can actively turn on the switch to display seconds in settings.

The left is the old version, the right is the new version

Today, Microsoft pushed the 202504 routine security update to Windows 10. Considering that Windows 10 is about to end support, I did not expect that Microsoft would make adjustments to the functions at this time. This adjustment includes deleting the seconds in the calendar.

Seconds are displayed in the calendar pop-up window in Windows 10. When the user clicks the time in the lower right corner, the calendar will pop up. The top of the calendar will display the current complete time, including year, month, day, hour, minute, second, and week.

In this update, Microsoft has adjusted the calendar module and deleted the time at the top, which means that users can only see the current specific time (excluding seconds) from the tray area. The original complete time at the top has been simply replaced with the month and day, and the week has been added at the top to help users distinguish quickly.

Microsoft did not disclose the significance of these improvements. After all, the old version may be relatively useful. The calendar pop-up window of this new version has lost its original function. The only user may be to check what day of the week a certain day is.
