After the accident, relevant staff of Jiushi (Suzhou) Intelligent Technology Company responded to the media saying,Before the accident, the vehicle was parked on the side of the road through driverless driving. During the remote control process of manually taking over the express delivery, due to a mistake by the relevant personnel, the unmanned express delivery vehicle hit the car in front and rear-ended it.

A video uploaded by a netizen showed that an electric vehicle was dragged under the left side of a Jiushi unmanned courier vehicle, and it stopped after being towed for a distance.

In this regard, the staff of Jiushi Intelligent Company stated that after investigation, on the morning of April 8,The route of the unmanned vehicle involved happened to pass through the scene of an accident. The unmanned vehicle hooked up to the parts of the fallen battery vehicle and towed it for a certain distance before stopping.

The unmanned vehicle detected an obstacle at 9:11:39 and determined that the main part needed to be avoided. The edge part was a soft obstacle that could be slightly touched, so it made a slight avoidance, resulting in a severely deformed electric vehicle that fell to the ground after approaching.

The staff member also emphasized that this incident was the first time such a situation was discovered during the operation of Jiushi Intelligent Company. In order to avoid such incidents from happening again in the future, the company will strengthen training and learning for special-shaped obstacles.
