President Donald Trump announces sanctions on several countries"Suspension of collection for 90 days"High Tariffs," which could be good news for Nintendo. This shift means the company has the opportunity to export more Switch 2 consoles from Vietnam to the United States.BloombergreportedCustoms data shows that the company has stockpiled Switch 2 consoles in Vietnam this year in preparation for the launch of the console on June 5.

Before suspending the tariffs, the Trump administration had imposed 46% tariffs on Vietnam, where some of Nintendo's hardware is produced. Nintendo has postponed its scheduled April 9 pre-order date for the Switch 2 in the United States due to concerns about tariffs. Currently, countries that have not retaliated against Trump's tariffs are still required to pay a 10% tariff, so any game consoles shipped from Vietnam to the United States will currently face lower tariffs than before.

Nintendo has said it has shipped "some" Switch 2 inventory to the United States, which may help it meet expected high demand. According to Bloomberg, one of Nintendo's main Switch 2 assemblers in Vietnam has significantly increased shipments to the United States in the past few months.

Bloomberg said: "According to customs data provided by NBD, HosidenCorp., one of the three major assemblers of Switch2, exported more game consoles from Vietnam to the United States in February than in the previous six months combined." The chart of NBD data in the article shows that Vietnam exported 383,000 game consoles to the United States in January and more than 725,000 game consoles to the United States in February.

Nintendo has not yet revealed when pre-orders will open in the United States (and Canada), nor whether the Switch 2 will increase in price due to tariff adjustments. But now that tariffs have been reduced, it seems likely that Nintendo will introduce as many Switch 2 consoles into the U.S. market as possible before future tariff increases take effect.
