Today, Apple released its 2025 Environmental Progress Report. In the report, Apple announced,iPhone and iPad demonstration equipment in Apple retail stores are switched to clean energy charging to reduce carbon footprint. It is understood that in iOS 16.1 and above, Apple has added the iPhone clean energy charging function. When low-carbon emission power is available, the iPhone can try to selectively charge to reduce its carbon footprint.

The current "Clean Energy Charging" feature is only available in the United States. When "Clean Energy Charging" is turned on, the iPhone will use the carbon emission forecast of the local power grid to charge during the production of cleaner energy.

In addition, in this report, Apple announced that the company's global greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced by more than 60% compared to the 2015 baseline. The company has also achieved multiple environmental milestones: using 99% recycled rare earth elements in all magnets and using 99% recycled cobalt materials in all Apple-designed batteries.

In Apple's global supply chain, there are currently 17.8 GW of renewable electricity connected to the grid. This is due to Apple's long-term collaboration with suppliers and strives to achieve 100% use of renewable energy in its production by 2030.
