Microsoft officially unveiled the "Doom: Dark Ages" themed Elite Controller II limited edition and the XSX console exclusive protective case as part of the game's "Limited Collection Series." Previously, well-known whistleblower billbil-kun had leaked the news on the social platform X (formerly Twitter), and revealed that a standard version of the wireless controller may be launched simultaneously.

Microsoft has long been criticized by players in the field of special edition consoles - whether it is using limited editions as exclusive gifts for anchors, or only providing a pure black "Diablo 4" console with no sense of design and a perfunctory operation with digital redemption codes. In comparison, Sony players can always get truly themed hardware products, and this gap makes Xbox collectors feel disappointed. Coupled with regional sales restrictions and scarce shipments, Microsoft's change naturally aroused feverish expectations.

Currently, the "Doom: Dark Age" themed standard wireless controller ($79.99) is available.Microsoft official store, physical channels will be postponed for sale; the Elite Controller Second Generation Limited Edition ($199.99) is open for pre-order today and is expected to be shipped on April 25, 2025; the XSX theme shell ($54.99) is also available for a limited time and can only be purchased through official channels. It’s worth noting that neither the Elite Controller nor the main case will be sold through third-party retailers.

As the game launches on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC platforms on May 15 (XGP users can play it for the first time), the pre-sale window for these limited peripherals has already opened. It is rumored that Microsoft will hold a small press conference this month and may reveal more details about the Collector's Edition and subsequent game plans. Although it has not been officially confirmed, the Doom Executor skin DLC that comes with the standard version of the controller has triggered speculation among players about the content being sold separately.
