Apple Intelligence was announced with iOS 18 at WWDC last October. However, even after a few months, Apple Intelligence still lacks many features and appears a bit immature. Currently, users can already use features such as writing tools and Genmoji in various applications such as Facebook and Threads.

However, in a surprising move, Meta has blocked Apple Intelligence from all of its iOS apps. According to Brazilian publication Sorcererhat Tech, iOS users will no longer be able to use Apple Intelligence's "Writing Tools" feature, which allows users to create, change or proofread text.

iOS users cannot use Apple Intelligence features in any Meta apps, including Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp, when long-pressing a text field. Previously, Apple Intelligence was fully available in these apps, but now that option is gone. Other third-party apps, including X, still support Apple Intelligence features on iOS.

This change is part of Meta’s strategy. The company recently updated Instagram, removing the ability to create and share iOS keyboard stickers, Memoji and even Genmoji stickers. At this time, Meta has not provided any information about this change.

Given the changes and increased competition in the AI field, Meta may want to encourage users to use Meta AI instead of other alternatives like Apple Intelligence. Meta AI works with almost all Meta applications, allowing users to create, edit text, generate images, and more.

The move may also be related to Apple's deal with Meta to integrate Llama models into Apple Intelligence. Notably, the deal was allegedly canceled by Apple, which has now become an OpenAI partner, because it violated the company's privacy policy.
