Bitauto recently released the Top 20 imported car sales list in the first quarter of 2025. The list shows,Toyota has become the biggest winner. Not only is Lexus ES the best-selling imported car, but it also has 5 models on the list. The number of models on the list is tied with Mercedes-Benz for first place.

Specifically, Lexus ES sold 25,166 units in China in the first quarter, making it the only model on the list with sales exceeding 10,000 units. As the cheapest model of Lexus, ES also shoulders the important task of driving sales in China.

Mercedes-Benz GLE ranked second with 9,873 units. However, it is worth noting that the Mercedes-Benz GLE sold in China is produced in American factories. As China imposes counter-tariffs on the United States,In the future, it is unlikely that the Mercedes-Benz GLE will continue to be imported from the United States, and the imported sales of the vehicle are expected to fluctuate significantly in the later period.

Lexus RX and NX ranked third and fourth respectively. Judging from this, among the top five camps of imported sales, Lexus has three seats.

Land Rover Range Rover ranked fifth with 4,145 imported units. Although there are currently domestically produced Land Rovers on sale, the strange thing is that the cheaper the Land Rover, the less people buy it. On the contrary, flagship models like Range Rover have higher sales than the sports version.

As a representative of domestic luxury MPVs, 3,618 imported Toyota Alphards were sold domestically in the first quarter, ranking sixth on the list. However, with the competition from domestic high-end new energy MPVs, Alfa's good days in China are getting worse day by day.

As for the seventh to tenth places on the list, they are BMW 4 Series, Land Rover Defender, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 and other models.

It is worth mentioning that the scale of domestically imported cars has also been declining year after year. In 2024, my country will import 700,000 cars, a year-on-year decrease of 12%, marking seven consecutive years of decline since 2017.
