Meta announced that its web version of Threads will officially migrate to the more popular Threads.com domain name and will launch a series of updates designed to enhance the desktop experience. This resolves some of the confusion that has existed since Threads first went live on Threads.net.

The Threads.com domain was previously owned by another company, a messaging startup that was acquired by Shopify before being acquired by Meta. If you visit thread.net you will be redirected to thread.com.
In addition to the domain change, Meta is rolling out several improvements specifically for Threads web applications. The Threads web client was first released in August 2023.
At the time, Meta's functionality was very basic, allowing users only to post, view activity, and interact with posts. Meta has been steadily adding new features to bring its web experience closer to the capabilities of mobile apps, including multi-column layouts. These new updates build on that foundation.
For those who prefer a single-column view, you'll now see your custom feeds arranged at the top of the page, in the same order as you do on mobile.

Finding posts you've saved or liked is now faster; you can access them via the main menu icon. Adding columns to a personalized layout (available in May 2024) is now even easier, thanks to new column icons on the right side of the screen.

Threads has a new handy feature that lets you copy posts directly as images to share on platforms like Instagram without taking a screenshot. In addition, a new "+" button has been added in the lower right corner to make posting more convenient. Clicking this button brings up a creative box that stays visible as you scroll, so you can create a post whenever inspiration strikes.

Meta also mentioned that it is testing a feature to help users connect with people they follow on other apps. The feature, which begins with an X, allows users to import their watchlists to find the same people on Threads.
