The Sony WH-1000XM6 have once again surfaced online, and this time its latest appearance suggests that Sony is ready to replace the WH-1000XM5, possibly coinciding with the third anniversary of its popular wireless headphones.
The long-awaited WH-1000XM6 is finally here. Sony officials have not revealed any news about the launch of a successor to the old WH-1000XM5. Instead, it continues to promote the WF-C710N as its latest consumer audio product. The product was launched last month alongside updated versions of the WH-CH520 and WH-CH720N headphones.
Still, the Walkman Blog discovered a key piece of the WH-1000XM6 puzzle. As shown below, Sony has received iPhone/iPod/iPad Specific (MFi) certification from Apple for device model number YY2984. While the new certification does not reveal the specific model number of YY2984, the model number has previously been confirmed to be related to the WH-1000XM6.

Typically, Apple releases MFi certification shortly before a device is released. According to recent rumors, Sony will release the WH-1000XM6 in May, but will not launch a follow-up to the WF-1000XM5 (noise reduction bean series) yet. By comparison, the WF-1000XM6 isn't expected to be released until later this year. As evidence that the two products have different release schedules, there is currently no specific information online about the WF-1000XM6.
