Expanded memory bandwidth enables faster app switching, smoother multitasking, and significantly improved AI capabilities—all areas in which Apple is likely to invest heavily as part of its broader Apple Intelligence strategy.

According to reports, the A20 Pro chip will be manufactured using TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process. With this chip, the iPhone 18 Pro model will benefit the most.

Weibo account Digital Chat Station has a strong reputation for Apple product rumors, having previously shared accurate information about unreleased hardware from the wider semiconductor supply chain. However, Apple's specific hardware plans are still likely to change before the iPhone 18 is released late next year.

Prior to this, if the supply chain shortage problem can be resolved, the iPhone 17 series is expected to be equipped with 12GB of memory as standard. This shift will likely set the stage for more radical hardware upgrades rumored for 2025.
