The Unreal 5 engine has brought many breakthroughs to the industry and has quickly become the most widely used engine in the game industry. Recently successful popular games such as "Light and Shadow: Expedition 33" and "The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered" all use the Unreal Engine 5, and future 3A masterpieces like "The Witcher 4" will also rely on Unreal 5.

Masterpieces such as "Halo" and "Marvel 1943" have also turned to Unreal 5 engine
However, Epic Games has its sights set on the future. Epic CEO Tim Sweeney discussed the future direction of Unreal Engine 6 in a new interview.
In an interview with Lex Fridman, Tim Sweeney said that Epic Games has not yet determined when the Unreal 6 engine will be launched. However, he estimates that a preview version of the engine will be launched within the next 2-3 years, which is around 2027 or 2028.
"It's still a few years away. We'll probably see a preview version in 2-3 years."
When talking about the main goals that the Unreal Engine 6 wants to achieve, Tim Sweeney discussed Verse, the programming language independently developed by Epic Games. Unreal Engine currently supports this language, along with a number of other standalone features built specifically for Fortnite.
Epic Games is continuing to iterate on the Verse and Fortnite feature sets, with the ultimate goal of merging the two.
Unreal Engine 6 should blend these elements together, allowing developers to gain greater freedom and expression through this technology. In addition, Unreal 6 is expected to be equipped with an open economic system and will be tested first in "Fortnite".
