Samsung Internet has moved from the mobile realm to the desktop realm, with new versions available for Windows PCs through the Microsoft Store. If you've ever owned a Samsung Galaxy device, chances are you've used the preinstalled Samsung Internet apps. Samsung Internet is a relatively functional web browser, and a great tool if you don't rely on Google's ecosystem of extensions and accounts.

The browser trusted by many is now available on PC through the Microsoft Store. If you have a Windows computer, you can go to your device's app store and get the browser for free. For the first time it's available to PC users, the Microsoft Store offers a simple wall to install the browser in seconds.

If you want to log into an existing Samsung account, you'll need to download another app from Samsung, a process that feels a bit clunky.

The layout of Samsung Internet for Windows PC is very similar to Google Chrome. There are bookmarks and address bar at the top. The side opens into a bookmarks section, much like Chrome's side panel. Extensions, account options, and settings are also pretty much in the same place.

Even the tab options, Samsung Internet Browser PC version looks to be based on the way Chrome works. Essentially, the same options appear when you right-click on an open tab until the grouping tool introduced in newer versions of Chrome.

Most interestingly, the screenshots Samsung used on the Microsoft Store page directly used screenshots from the PC version of Chrome, neglecting to include screenshots of its own apps on the store page, which raises the question: How many elements of this desktop web browser are original?

Samsung Internet, as a whole, has enough power to set it apart from most browsers, since many browsers these days look the same anyway. Still, if you're looking for a Chrome alternative with comparable performance, it's still an alternative browser that delivers a fast experience on the desktop.
