According to "CCTV Finance", the large-capacity battery hybrid ro-ro passenger ship "P&O LIBERTE" built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation Guangzhou Shipyard International for British shipowners was officially delivered today (November 29). The ship was built by Guangzhou Shipyard International for the British company P&OFerries. After delivery, the ship will be put into operation in the English Channel, mainly traveling between the Port of Dover in the UK and the Port of Calais in France.
According to reports, the ro-ro passenger ship has a total length of 230.5 meters, a width of 30.8 meters, and a service speed of 20.8 knots. It is the first ro-ro passenger ship in the world to adopt a double-ended design. The bow and stern structures are completely symmetrical, and there is a cab at the bow and stern.
The ship is equipped with two 7500-kilowatt pod thrusters at the front and rear. The pod thrusters can achieve 360-degree full rotation propulsion. Therefore, the ship can also sail in both directions, allowing the ship to enter and exit the port without turning around, which can save a lot of time in and out of the port.
When fully loaded, it can transport 1,500 passengers and more than 700 vehicles of various types. The public area on board for passenger activities exceeds 10,000 square meters.
In terms of power range, the ship is equipped with a total of 1160 large-capacity batteries. The battery capacity on board reaches 8.8MWh (megawatt hours), which is equivalent to the combined battery capacity of 150 passenger electric vehicles.Pure electric drive can be used when sailing offshore.
In addition, by establishing a complete industrial chain, China Shipbuilding has achieved 100% localization of the entire interior decoration process from design, manufacturing and installation.
