Meta, the parent company of Facebook, recently completed a strategic investment in data annotation giant Scale AI. This transaction, valued at US$29 billion, not only reshaped the landscape of artificial intelligence infrastructure, but also pushed the 28-year-old Scale AI founder Alexandr Wang to the core decision-making level of the technology giant.

Meta will acquire a 49% stake in Scale AI for $14.3 billion, according to two anonymous sources familiar with the matter. The company confirmed in a statement: "The two parties will deepen cooperation on AI model data, and Alexandr Wang will join Meta to lead the super intelligence program." The statement did not disclose specific financial terms.
It is worth noting that another source involved in the negotiations revealed that the core motivation of the transaction is actually Meta’s key layout for its future artificial intelligence strategy-to acquire the world’s youngest billionaire technology leader. Alexandr Wang will hold a key position in Meta's newly established superintelligence department and be directly involved in building the next generation of general artificial intelligence systems.
