It was previously reported that the two 4K microLED screens equipped with Apple Vision Pro will be produced by Sony. However, if there is only one supplier in the supply chain, it means that it is difficult to reduce production costs. In order to achieve better cost control effects, it has been reported that Apple is evaluating two Chinese display suppliers.

According to wccftech, the current microLED screen suppliers for Apple Vision Pro are China's BOE and SeeYA. BOE should be familiar to you, and SeeYA is a high-tech enterprise headquartered in the Hefei Free Trade Zone and founded in October 2016 that specializes in the research and development, design, production and sales of new generation semiconductor OLEDoS displays.

From the exposed pictures, we can see that Sony has not become a supplier of the device. According to Revegnus, this is because the output of Sony’s microLED panels is low, and Samsung is likely to become the screen supplier of Apple Vision Pro2.

However, BOE has previously lost iPhone display orders because it failed to pass Apple's strict quality inspection. Therefore, BOE may only provide trial screen panels for Apple Vision Pro, and will only obtain orders when Vision Technology cannot meet shipment demand.

There are rumors that the specific reason why Sony cannot become a supplier is that it can only mass-produce 900,000 microLED displays for Apple Vision Pro a year. Since one Apple Vision Pro requires the use of two displays, this means that Apple can only produce 450,000 Apple Vision Pro units in a year, which cannot meet Apple's shipment needs.

In addition, using two suppliers can make it easier for Apple to achieve better cost control results, and can also lay a good supply chain foundation for the Apple Vision Pro 2, which is rumored to be mass-produced in 2027.
