On July 17, Meituan’s official public account issued an article stating that based on its previous pilot pension insurance subsidies, Meituan will officially launch pension insurance subsidies nationwide starting from the 17th. After completing the system connection with relevant local departments, it will be launched in various places.
It is understood that the scheme will be consistent with the pilot. As long as the rider's income reaches the lower limit of the local social security payment base for 3 months in the past 6 months, he will automatically be eligible for pension insurance subsidies. There will be no upper limit on the number of people subsidy, and all riders who meet the conditions can apply.
In addition, in conjunction with the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Meituan will also build 1,000 rider homes across the country for riders to recharge and rest. At the same time, Meituan has established the "Tongzhou Fund" to provide serious illness care and children's education assistance to riders and their families.

Previously, on April 3, Meituan official news stated that based on the country’s existing flexible employment insurance policy, Meituan launched a pilot pension insurance for riders to explore pension insurance solutions suitable for the flexible employment characteristics of new employment groups. The pilot plan is: for riders whose monthly income reaches the lower limit of the relevant payment base in the place of employment, and who have met this condition for three of the past six months, Meituan will subsidize 50% of the fees based on the relevant payment base.
The first batch of pilots have been launched today in Quanzhou, Fujian and Nantong, Jiangsu, and are open to all riders in the region, and will gradually cover the whole country.
Meituan said, “The subsidy method used in the pilot is to better adapt to the flexible and transitional characteristics of riders’ work and cover more riders.”
