Samsung Display announced today that its new generation of foldable OLED panels have passed the folding test by Bureau Veritas, an authoritative international certification agency.To demonstrate its confidence in the panel's long-term durability, Samsung Display hasThe internal durability test standard was raised from 200,000 times to 500,000 times, which is 2.5 times the original standard.
It is reported that this panel has been successfully installed in the recently released flagship mobile phone "Galaxy Z Fold7" by Samsung Electronics.
500,000 times of repeated folding, this data means,For ordinary users who open and close contracts an average of 100 times a day, the service life can be guaranteed to be more than 10 years; and for heavy users who open and close contracts more than 200 times a day, the service life can be more than 6 years.
This result fully demonstrates that the durability of the panel is no longer a limiting factor affecting the service life of foldable smartphones.
It is understood that Samsung Display has adopted an innovative technology derived from the principle of bulletproof glass - "impact-resistant reinforced structure", and made two key optimizations to the structure of its foldable OLED:
First, the thickness of the ultra-thin flexible glass (UTG) used to protect the outermost layer of the panel is increased by 50%;
Secondly, the special adhesive used to bond the internal layers of the panel is replaced with a highly elastic material with a resilience that is increased by more than 4 times.
With these improvements, the panel's overall impact-absorbing capabilities are significantly enhanced.
