Suspected mid-frame components of the Nintendo Switch 2 OLED model have recently been sold on second-hand trading platforms, triggering speculation about the development of new models.

According to netizens, a seller on Xianyu, the largest second-hand platform in China, is selling mid-frame components labeled as Switch2 OLED version. The product information shows that these sample components marked as produced in 2024 are basically consistent with the current version design. The main differences are the side inscriptions and the color scheme of part of the silver-white mid-frame.

Although it cannot be confirmed whether these parts are indeed OLED models, the seller also sells a large number of accessories that are suspected to come from the production factory, including blank PS5 motherboards, original Switch and Switch2 spare parts, etc., which increases the credibility of this batch of mid-frames. Even if they are not ultimately used for OLED models, these parts at least hint that Nintendo may be testing multiple color schemes for the new generation of consoles.

Although OLED screens may bring technical challenges such as variable refresh rate (VRR), Switch2 does need to improve the display quality. Soon after the current model was released, its screen was criticized for below-average picture quality, poor HDR support, and dynamic display effects that were even worse than those of the previous generation. Considering Nintendo's awareness of these issues, it's not surprising that a display upgrade would be released years after the original model.
