In order to improve the online shopping experience of Thai consumers, Taobao has officially launched the Thai version. It is reported that since the Russian version was launched in Kazakhstan in May, Taobao has once again launched a multi-language version for overseas markets in just two months, accelerating its overseas expansion.

According to Taobao, since the Thai version was launched more than a month ago, the number of new local users in Thailand has increased by nearly 60% year-on-year.

Currently, Taobao supports three languages: Chinese, English and Thai in the Thai market. After switching to the Thai interface, the Taobao App system, product titles and details pages are all displayed in Thai. Users can also directly use Thai baht to settle, and can purchase Chinese products without using other translation tools. It is worth mentioning that the Thai version of Taobao launched this time uses an AI translation service developed based on Alibaba’s Tongyi large model.

It is reported that Thailand has a total population of over 70 million, a young population structure, and high Internet penetration. It is a popular destination for Chinese e-commerce companies to go overseas. Taobao Thailand Station Manager Zhao Jing said: "During the just-concluded 618 promotion, Taobao Thailand Station's GMV achieved steady growth, with outstanding sales performance in apparel, home furnishings and 3C digital products, especially in the women's shoes category, where GMV increased by more than 2 times year-on-year."

In addition, Taobao also provides "free shipping" and "local returns" services in Thailand. Taking Bangkok, Thailand as an example, an order of Chinese-made sports shoes can be delivered to consumers in as little as 7 days. If consumers are not satisfied with the goods they purchased online, they can simply send the package to a local warehouse in Thailand to complete the return.
