Allegedly iPhonee 17New images of a range of third-party cases confirm rumors that MagSafe has moved across all models – and now has a revamp on the iPhone 17 Pro.

There have been rumors that Apple may need to lower the MagSafe magnet due to the larger camera bump of the iPhone 17 series. It was previously speculated that the ring magnet array would be relocated slightly below the iPhone.
Now, a tipster has posted a new photo on Chinese social media site Weibo, showing off a case design that would match that lower position.
The cases are in line with previous rumors, with both models receiving a bigger redesign than the others.
Specifically, MagSafe magnets have been arranged in a complete circle before, and this design continues on the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air protective cases. However, the magnet arrangement of the two Pro models is changed to a circular shape with a broken bottom.
Reports from 2024 suggested that Apple was considering making a smaller MagSafe magnetic ring to save magnets. But that didn't happen then, and making sweeping changes now would mean millions of MagSafe chargers could become useless.
It's unclear why the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max feature a different MagSafe design than the rest of the series. Although designed separately, Apple is rumored to be making design changes to the Pro models to add vapor chamber cooling capabilities.
The iPhone 17 series, including the expected slimmer iPhone 17 Air, will be released in September. Latest reports suggest the release will take place in the week starting September 8, 2025.
