Walmart still doesn’t accept contactless payment methods like Apple Pay and Google Pay at its more than 4,500 stores in the United States. This isn't the first time we've reported on this topic, but despite constant customer complaints, Walmart still hasn't changed its policy.

Earlier this year, a Walmart spokesperson said the company remained focused on its own payment technology within the Walmart app, including Walmart Pay and Scan & Go, Walmart’s payment system that allows it to track customers’ purchasing history.
Walmart Pay allows customers to pay using a payment card stored in the Walmart app by scanning a QR code displayed at checkout. Scan & Go allows Walmart+ members to save time by scanning barcodes on items as they shop, rather than having to scan everything later at a self-checkout machine.
Apple Pay launched more than 10 years ago, and as of 2022, more than 90% of retailers in the U.S. accept the payment method, according to Apple. Several other major Apple Pay resisters in the U.S. have also shifted gears and begun accepting the payment method in the past few years, including The Home Depot, Lowe's, Kroger and Texas grocery chain HEB. Walmart is one of the only major retailers in the U.S. that doesn't accept Apple Pay.
There's one exception: Walmart has been accepting Apple Pay in Canada since 2020.
