Steam hardware survey data in July 2025 shows that AMD processor users accounted for 40.23%, setting a record since 2008. Intel's share fell by 0.75% that month (corresponding to about 990,000 users), while AMD's share increased by 0.74% (about 980,000 users). With Steam’s monthly active users reaching 132 million, the ebb and flow indicates that the PC game market is being reshaped.

The technology generation gap between the two parties may become a key factor. Intel's main users are concentrated in the low-frequency band of 2.3-2.69GHz (down 0.57% this month), while the proportion of users of AMD's high-frequency processors of 3.7GHz and above increased by 0.86%.

This trend may also be related to the product strategies of both parties: AMD's Ryzen 7000/8000 series processors rely on the Zen4 architecture and 5nm process to lead in terms of performance and power consumption ratio; while Intel's 14th generation Core still uses the Intel 7 process, and high-frequency models face heat dissipation and energy efficiency challenges.

According to Gartner's 2025 Q2 report, Intel has fallen out of the top ten global semiconductor companies in terms of revenue. Since the release of Ryzen processors in 2017, AMD's share of the gaming market has grown by more than 300%. If it maintains its current growth rate, its processor share is expected to surpass Intel's in 2026.

AMD CEO Ma Su said in the financial report conference: "Gamers' demand for high-performance computing is driving our continued innovation." AMD has confirmed that Zen5 architecture processors will be mass-produced by the end of 2025.
