June 2023,The Titan deep-sea submersible imploded while on its way to investigate the wreckage of the Titanic, killing five wealthy people at the bottom of the sea.Two years after the accident, the investigation report was finally released. According to media reports, the U.S. Coast Guard recently released an investigation report stating that,The main cause of the accident was defects in the Titan's design, certification, maintenance and inspection processes by the American Ocean Gate Exploration Company.
The Accident Investigation Committee found that after the diving expedition in 2022, there were abnormalities in the Titan's hull, but Ocean Gate Exploration Company failed to properly investigate and resolve them.
Investigators believe Oceangate should have analyzed and acted on data generated by the Titan's real-time monitoring system.
But before the Titanic wreckage is inspected in 2023,The company took no action related to the data, did not perform any preventive maintenance, and did not store the Titan properly.
It is reported that the Titan submersible dived into the Atlantic Ocean on June 18, 2023, and went to the wreckage of the Titanic at a depth of 3,800 meters.
But 90 minutes into the dive, a catastrophic implosion occurred just 500 meters away from the wreckage, killing all five passengers.
The five deceased were Stockton Rush, CEO of Ocean Gate Exploration Company, British explorer Hamish Harding, businessman Shahzada Daoud with dual nationality of Pakistan and Britain and his son Suleiman, and French explorer Paul-Henri Narjolay.
